According to the US Environment Protection Agency, in one hour of use, a new gas powered lawnmower produces the same air pollution emissions as 11 new cars. In 2011, a test measuring the emissions of a Ford v8 pickup truck and a standard 4 stroke leaf blower revealed an uncomfortable truth: a small petrol-powered leaf blower is worse for the environment than a truck with a V8 engine. The leaf blower’s tiny engine produced 6.8 times more nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide than the V8 truck’s, and 13.5 times more carbon dioxide.
